Lulu dela Rosa Award



To all graduating students, we invite you to join the search for the Lulu dela Rosa Memorial Awards in English and Filipino. If you excel in speaking and writing in English and Filipino, submit your original copies of certificates, medals, trophies as proof of your accomplishment in the said fields for the whole duration of your stay in the College of Science.

Deadline for the submission of papers and proofs will be on or before May 19, 2017. Awarding of the winners will be done during the 2017 Commencement Exercise.

The Lulu dela Rosa Award gives recognition to graduating students who excel in speaking and writing in English and Filipino. Awardees were chosen based on their accomplishments for the whole duration of their stay in the College.

The award is named after Lourdes "Lulu" Centeno dela Rosa who served as coordinator of the English Department of the UST College of Science. She was born February 3, 1935; finished B.S. Education, major in Library Science in 1956; took up English as a second major; and obtained master's degree at UST with the highest grade (meritisimus). She taught both language and literature. She died July 31, 1985.

College of Science Student Bags the 2017 BPI-DOST Best Project of the Year Award

Sheena S. Gumatay, a fourth year Biology student of the College of Science, bags the Best Project of the Year Award in the 2017 B

PI-DOST Science Awards. Ms. Gumatay was also awarded the Best in Basic Research Award for her research entitled Comparative analysis of in vivo- and in vitro-produced dsRNA in silencing efficacy in Penaeus vannamei challenged with WSSV, under the advisorship of Assoc. Prof. Mary Beth B. Maningas, Ph.D. 

Both awards were also won by a Chemistry student of the College of Science last year. The awarding ceremony was held in April 4, 2017 at the Mind Museum, BGC in Taguig City.

The internationalization agenda of the College of Science continues to beef up as shown through a linkage with international universities, faculty mobility, and academic as well as research collaborations.

On November 12, 2015, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the University of Santo Tomas (College of Science) and Academia Sinica (Institute of Physics), Taiwan, R.O.C. In the pipeline is the partnership with Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Japan and Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea.
