CHED Assesses Physics Program

On October 14, 2011, CHED evaluators Dr. Benjamin Chan and Dr. Romeric Pobre, together with CHED representatives, Ma. Wilma R. Gabrillo and Margarita B. Paciente, visited the UST – College of Science to assess its Physics Program.

The Department Chair, Asso. Prof. Ma. Carlota B. Decena, Ph.D., with the Program Coordinator, Asso. Prof. Angelina A. Silverio, MAEd, M.S., and other members of the Department accommodated the CHED technical panel by presenting data regarding administration, faculty, students, facilities, and other information on the operation of B.S. Applied Physics (Major in Instrumentation). This was verified by the panel through the interviews with school administrators, faculty members, and students.

It is worth noting that the College of Science Physics program was commended for good student recruitment and retention rates, extensive internal and external linkages, notable support for national and international conferences and for inventions/patents, and impressive St. Thomas Aquinas Research Center.

At the end of the visit, recommendations for a more effective operations of the physics program based on the documents presented were provided.
