Math Poster lands 3rd

The research poster, “A Parametric Survival Analysis of Breast Cancer Patients among Different Age Group and Mass Index Categories” of Philip Edward F. Acosta, Ernie D. Diva, Josephine M. Benjamin, and Ma. Carlota B. Decena, won third place in the Research Poster Competition during the 81st National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) – DOST General Membership Assembly held at the Manila Hotel on March 26-27, 2014.  

The winning poster, prepared by the students and faculty members of the UST College of Science, Math and Physics Department, was one of the 30 posters selected from the 62 submitted poster entries. This falls under the cluster which centers on Mathematical Sciences, Engineering and Industrial Research, Physics, Earth, and Space Sciences. The other clusters focused on the following: Governmental, Educational and International Policies, Social Sciences, and Humanities; Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Chemical Sciences; and Biological Sciences, Agriculture and Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine. All entries addressed this year’s theme, “Future Earth, Future Philippines”.
