MACABEO, LOPEZ of Science Bag Poster Awards
The partnership of Allan Patrick G. Macabeo, Dr. rer. nat and Amier Dayle Lopez won for them the 3rd Poster Award while Dr. Macabeo bagged the Best Poster Award during the 14th National Institute of Health (NIH)Anniversary, 10th Science and Technology Week, and 3rd Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium (MMHRDC) held 22-23 February 2012 at Hyatt Hotel Manila.
The scientific summit with the theme, “Transformative Research, Call for Action and Advocacy: AIDS, TB, and Malaria National Health Research Forum” zeroed in on the three diseases in forms of breaking news, research agenda, and discussions between and among researchers and other stakeholders. There were 300 participants, mostly researchers who represent government agencies, non-government organizations, and international organizations. Plenary sessions, parallel, and poster sessions were held. The group was categorized based on their interest on the three cited diseases: AIDS, TB, and Malaria.
The posters presented by Macabeo and Lopez fall under the TB category. While the 3rd prize was given to the poster on Alkaloids from Goniothalamus Sibuyanensis Exhibit Potent Antituberculosis Activity in vitro, the grand prize was awarded to Dr. Allan Patrick Macabeo for the research, Design, Synthesis and In Vitro Antituberculosis Activity of Benzoxylated Benzaldehydes and 2-Aryl-2- Imidazolines.
